The Constitutional Law Matters project held an online webinar on the judiciary which was chaired by Professor Kate O’Regan (University of Oxford) with panellists Lady Hale (former President of the UK Supreme Court), Professor Alison Young (University of Cambridge) and Professor Anand Menon (King’s College London).

Constitutional Law Matters held its first online webinar of the year on 17 January 2022 with the topic of discussion centred around ‘The role of the judiciary in the UK Constitution’. The topic is a very timely one in light of the Independent Review of Administrative Law, followed by a Government consultation on the report, resulting in the Judicial Review and Courts Bill 2021. The event saw panellists approach the topic from both a legal and political perspective, with questions ranging from the two Miller judgments, the Human Rights Act 1998, the role of the Lord Chancellor and different understandings of the rule of law. A video recording of the event is now available to watch on YouTube.
